Blog closed indefinitely. Don’t expect to see me around other blogs either, even though I’ll be there, I’ll likely be in lurk mode. Reasons can be found at my personal blog, for those who are interested.

Aww, well isn’t that sweet.

I got several posts from troll extraordinare, tara! Sorry tara, you may not have posted here before, but I know about you. Try your “I’m really an FA advocate” BS somewhere else, ‘kay? (And no, I’m not even putting your post on the movie meme up, because I saw the link you had as your homepage).

Took Me Long Enough

August 10, 2008 at 6:35 pm (Uncategorized)

I FINALLY got around to making a livejournal so that I could comment on blogs of those who have LJs, and to join the fatshionista community! (I’m quite excited about the latter, if you couldn’t tell. xD) so anyhow, livejournal users, come visit me! (This will always and forever be my main blog, but I’ll likely be posting fashion-y and hair stuff on that one now).

Because I have nothing productive to say

August 10, 2008 at 1:59 pm (Uncategorized)

So here, have a bit of a game! I snagged this from Bee, and BFDynamo. The premise is to go to imdb.com, and look up 15 of your favorite movies, and copy down quotes for them. Then others try to guess which movie it’s from. When someone guesses correctly, I’ll strike out that quote. Person with the most correct wins >9000 internets.

1) “There is no news. There is only the truth of the signal. What I see. And, there’s the puppet theater the Parliament jesters foist on the somnambulant public.” Mrs.Millur and nuckingfutz both got this one! Even though Mrs.Millur got it first, nuckingfutz wouldn’t have seen the post, since I had to approve them. It’s from Serenity, the movie based on the Firefly series. <3

2) “Give yourself over to absolute pleasure.” Correctly answered as Rocky Horror Picture show, by goodbyemyboy!

3) “She is tolerable, I suppose, but not handsome enough to tempt me.” Gotten by Sarah, of BFDynamo! (It’s from the 6-hour, A&E Pride and Prejudice miniseries. Oh yes, I’m so cool. 8) )

4) “Romantic? Hemingway? He was an abusive, alcoholic misogynist who squandered half of his life hanging around Picasso trying to nail his leftovers.” Mrs.Millur gets this one again! It’s Ten Things I Hate About You, which is up there at the top of my favorite movies list. <3

5) “I’m gonna get out of the car and drop you like third period French.” Ducky’s got this one! It’s from Ocean’s Eleven.

6) “There’s no Christmas in the Army!”

7) “The prettiest sight in this fine pretty world is the privileged class enjoying its privileges.” It’s The Philadelphia Story! Starring Katharine Hepburn (<3), and Jimmy Stewart. Congrats to Weightless One!

8) “See, I’m a man of simple tastes. I like dynamite…and gunpowder…and gasoline! Do you know what all of these things have in common? They’re cheap!” This one identified by PaleAndNerdy, as the new batman movie, The Dark Knight.

9) “It is YOUR LUCKY DAY… to be baptized into the Greek Orthodox Church!” Congrats to Bee, for guessing My Big Fat Greek Wedding!

10) “Its called an easy-out-clause because its supposed to be EASY”

11) “At last! My arm is complete again!” Bee nails another one, with Sweeny Todd! :)

12) “Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.” And another correct guess by goodbyemyboy.

13) “Oh! What a cute little chair. Why, there’s seven little chairs. Must be seven little children. And from the look of this table, seven untidy little children.” This one goes to nuckingfutz, for Snow White, which was the very first movie I ever saw in theaters.

14) “Come in. Come in, my child. We mustn’t lurk in doorways. It’s rude. One might question your upbringing.” It’s The Little Mermaid! Congrats to 32-P!

15) “Me? I’m dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It’s the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they’re going to do something incredibly… stupid.” Pet~, and Fat Angie tie it up with Pirates of the Carribean! (Curse of the Black Pearl).

And there we have it. Happy guessing.

OMG

August 2, 2008 at 1:49 am (Uncategorized)

Yes, O.M.G. I am a complete Ellen DeGeneres fangirl, I’m not ashamed to admit it. I figured, I’ll share this with you guys then, since all of my friends simply don’t care, and call m weird for being excited. Anyhow. My mother, while browsing Ellen’s show’s website to see how to get guests on the show*, happened to breeze by the tickets page, because she was curious, and decided to apply to get tickets for her, and myself. So at first it was no guarantee, we were put on a list, etc. So today, she comes home, all excited, saying that she’d been called up by someone who worked on the show, and said we had guaranteed seats in the audience. So HOLYSHIT I freaked out, and we both were yelling and jumping around like the Ellen fangirls we are. I may not always get along with my mother, but when we do get along, we get along VERY well. So, I’m excited. We’re going to the September 8th taping, so all you Ellen fans, look for me in the audience! (I’ll put of the day that the show will be on after I find out). But SERIOUSLY, YOU GUYS. SO EXCITED, AHHHH!

*she’s working on trying to help promote and publicize this scholarship book that the mother of one of her former bosses wrote (man, that’s a mouthful).

Reading Rainbow

July 29, 2008 at 2:12 pm (Uncategorized)

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how, while I used to read 1-2 books per week, lately, I’ve been picking up books, only reading them halfway through, then just abandoning them. I’m not sure if I’m going through a temporary ‘readers block’, or what, but I just can’t seem to finish a book. So, here are some books I have finished, some I’d like to read, or just have no interest in at all. (Snagged from Fatadelic )

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline (or mark in a different color) the books you LOVE (I put an asterick by mine)
4) Reprint this list in your blog.
The premise of this exercise is that the National Endowment for the Arts apparently believes that the average American has only read 6 books from the list below.
5) Strikethrough those you hated or couldn’t get through

Good Things in Unexpected Places

July 9, 2008 at 2:38 am (Uncategorized)

I found this gorgeous piece of artwork in the unlikeliest of places (let’s just say that the whole site in general is very fat-negative, and I’m not going to mention it here). But, not only did I find this piece there, but the thread it was in was (almost!) fat positive! It wasn’t fat-negative, that’s for sure. And it made me happy to see it. <3

Edit: Bad thread is bad. Still some are fine, but now, it’s devolved into assholes. >.>

Actually Back

July 6, 2008 at 12:39 pm (Uncategorized)

I thought I’d be gone a bit longer, but I came back early, and decided that I had so very many things to say about my experience at Anime Expo (which will henceforth be referred to as “the Con”), that I didn’t want to wait. Unfortunately, despite being back, I’m also quite busy at the moment, so I’ll be working on an entry piece by piece, putting together my personal experience, as well as things I observed/heard/etc around the Con relating to FA, and my own struggle with fully practicing it.

So, entry coming in a few days, so long for now! (pictures too, maybe? This one’s a very big maybe.)
